How To Use A Grinding Mill
1. Pre-Startup Preparation
- Check that the power cord is intact and grounded securely (according to national standard GB 5226.1-2019, the insulation resistance of electrical equipment should be ≥1MΩ).
- Verify that the grinding media (e.g., steel balls, ceramic beads) are intact and that the loading does not exceed 2/3 of the tank volume (for a typical laboratory ball mill, the tank volume is typically 0.5-50L).
- Pre-crush the material to be ground to particles ≤5mm (refer to the recommended values in the Chemical Machinery Handbook) to avoid clogging the feed port.
2. Operation
- Upon startup, run the mill at no load for 30 seconds to confirm there is no abnormal vibration or noise.
- Adjust the speed according to the hardness of the material: 200-400 rpm is recommended for soft materials (e.g., plastics), and 800-1200 rpm is recommended for hard materials (e.g., ores) (data from ISO 14839-2004).
- Continuous operation should not exceed 2 hours to prevent motor overheating.
3. Shutdown and Cleaning
- After shutting down, wait until the device comes to a complete stop before opening the cover to avoid mechanical damage.
- Use a soft cloth to clean any remaining powder. Do not rinse the motor with water.
